MBIE has released an updated points table for the Skilled Migrant Category (SMC) residence visa, effective from 1 May 2026.
STEM qualifications now attract an additional 20 bonus points. Employment outside Auckland carries a 30-point bonus, up from 15 points. Work experience in NZ for more than two years contributes 50 points.
